Community-Building and PATH
Training
Managing the Art of Living is anchored in the in the desire
for people to live full, rich lives - the lives they want to live - with
the support of family, friends, community and public resources. This means
full inclusion in the cultural, economic and civic life of the community and
the opportunity to make significant contributions.
Community-Building, Creative Facilitation and PATH
are proven tools and strategies for moving towards meaningful connection,
companionship and contribution and building creative and enduring circles of
support.

PATH Facilitation Training
September 24, 25, 26, 2008
Urbana Civic Center
108 E. Water Street
Urbana, IL 61801
In this
three-day hands-on course,
you will
practice some of the most valued organizational and person-centered
planning tools in use today. Participants leave inspired and
energized, with tools that they can immediately put into use at work
and in their personal lives.
Each participant...
has several opportunities to experience the
various roles in person-centered planning – being the PATHfinder,
process facilitator or a graphic recorder! Work will be in
small teams… Practice makes perfect!
We welcome:
-
people with disabilities,
-
families and extended family members,
-
friends and community allies, service
coordinators,
-
educators,
-
human service staff and managers,
-
policy-makers and program managers,
-
leaders in civic, cultural, and
congregational organizations,
-
anyone else who wants to help people
journey toward a person-centered approach to self-determination
and full community participation.
This is a team-building event
We
encourage people to come with at least one person who they will work
with in the future. Participants will leave with a solid working
knowledge and the confidence to put these tools into practice right
away. Ideally, this means working with a partner
Our Presenters:
Jack Pearpoint and Lynda Kahn are
co-leaders of Inclusion Press
International, based in Toronto. Jack is one of the principal
authors of PATH, MAPS, Circles of Friends and other great tools for
facilitation and planning. Lynda served for 9 years as state
director in Rhode Island's Division of Developmental Disabilities
and helped close its only institution in 1995. Lynda and Jack enjoy
designing learning and planning processes created to engage people
in action for social change.
Cost
A $30
registration fee covers the cost of graphic supplies.
Following the PATH training, an in-depth Microboard
and Cooperative session will be held on
